My research

I am currently pursuing a PhD at the Institute for Geoinformatics (ifgi) at the University of Münster. Research projects targeting Web services in the Geospatial Semantic Web are my daily business. My personal interests are targeting the intersection of the Geospatial, Semantic, and Social Web. I’ll try to answers questions like the following:

• Can existing techniques from the Information Retrieval Domain (i.e. collaborative filtering in recommender systems) be also applied for the semantic annotation of geographic information?
• Can we derive a better understanding of place (and their names) by looking at user-generated (and geo-located) information such as photos. 
• And finally: How can we  measure the spatio-temporal/semantic/social similarity between features extracted from user-generated VGI, and how do these different dimensions correlate?
